Course Overview
In the "External Timber 101" course, students will learn the difference between hardwood, pine, and cypress and where they can be used in external applications. From decking and fencing to cladding and outdoor furniture, when suitable species is used it is a versatile and durable material that is perfect for outdoor use. This course will cover the characteristics of different timber species, how to choose the right timber for a specific project. Best practices for installing external timber structures are in Part 2, Boardwalk Design.
Throughout this course, students will gain valuable knowledge on the advantages and disadvantages of using timber in external applications. They will learn the importance of proper treatment and maintenance to ensure the longevity of external timber structures.
