How hard can it be?

We are just putting a timber post in the ground, how hard can it be? Well it appears quite hard from the issues I see.

A correctly specified, supplied and installed timber bollard has a very long life but the failure to ensure it is correct can result in a very short life indeed. Timber gets the blame but it is not timber's fault

Why you need this course

Timber simply is not taught or if it is it is taught very poorly. Common practice is just repeat6ed and much of what passes for common practice is actually bad practice.

You will learn where to find reliable sources of information. how to specify the timber and that will change with size and whether you are using hardwood or pine. You will also learn how to install for durability.

The problem of Heartwood

When do you allow included heart and when must it be excluded. You will learn the importance of correct specification of heart

Termite Resistance

You will learn that just by specifying grades suitable for roof trusses does not ensure that you receive the qualities you need such as termite resistance.

Correct Installation

Installing bollards in concrete greatly reduces their service life and makes replacement hard. This bollard will need a jackhammer to remove!
